"What we traders do best, pure and simple, is make money. The
glint of a fistful of coins is what makes our blood flow."
- Guild Leader Imaar
The lifeblood of the Realms' commerce, Traders spend time going
from city to city, exchanging goods and striking deals. Traders can potentially
become the richest of all the professions in the land.
Primary Skill - Lore
Secondary Skill - Survival, Armor
Ability - A trader's ability
comes from the contacts he/she makes during their journeys. These contacts
will help the trader to appraise the value of an item, including its going
price in any particular province.
Limitation - The information
a trader needs changes constantly, and thus if a trader is not well-traveled,
this information is quickly outdated and worthless. The trader must regularly
visit the various provinces to retain this ability.
Guild crest - a shield divided
by a diagonal line. One half bears the stylized image of a man leading
a donkey burdened with sacks of golden coins, the other, a picture of a
sailing ship cresting a wave, its sail bearing the image of a large diamond
Currency
Currencies come in several types and each province or region only
trusts its own coinage. To handle this, many banks offer an exchange window
for such transactions. For a fee, you can get those odd coins turned into
something more useful, or turn those coins from home into something the
locals will accept.
There are three different types of currency. These are called Kronars,
Lirums, and Dokoras. All types of coins come in either copper, bronze,
silver, gold, or platinum (smallest to largest).
1 Gold = 10 silver = 100 bronze
= 1000 coppers
1 Platinum coin is worth 10 gold
coins.
The province of Illithi uses Dokoras (Shard, Steel Claw Clan,
Fayrin's Rest).
The province of Zoluran (the Crossing, Leth Deriel, Arthe
Dale, Kaerna Village, Knife/Wolf/Tiger/Stone Clan, Dirge) uses Kronars.
The province of Therengia uses Lirums (Riverhaven, Langenfirth,
Therenborough, Muspar'i).
The province of Qi'Reshalia also uses Lirums (Ratha, Taisgath,
Mer'Kresh, Aesry Surlaenis'a, and Hara'Jaal).
