Horses can be purchased in game in
several locations. They may also be bought from Traders or anyone who happens
to be selling theirs.
Here is a list of stables to purchase and stable horses:
Before buying a Horse you should know horses do not like Prydaen or Rakash in their moonskin, If you do you must get your horse to tolerate you. You'll need to teach it tolerance or have a Ranger that can do it. Ponies are only for short races such as a dwarf, gnome and halfling and will need someone to teach your horse to kneel so you can climb on top of it since it'll be to tall for you. Horse Color Akhaal
To see what types of horses are available at the corrals, just [look in corral] or [order]. The [order] command will give you a menu of what horses are for sale, and at what prices. Roughly around 42 platinum lirum and the corral area is a stealing zone, so be careful. You can look at a specific horse for sale by [look #]. To buy the horse you simply [order #].
Catching To rope up your own horse: Hold a lead rope in your right hand.
Training Basic Horsemanship is taught to any person that purchases a horse from the Stablemaster at that location. You just need to ask the stable master about it. If you don't have enough of a requirement for that specific training they'll give ya a little spiel about "If you had a bit more experience I could probably teach you the techniques." Rangers only teach bareback to players and teach everything else to the horse. Anything else, you'll need to listen to the classes so you can teach a horse or be able to do them on a horse. |

To hop on your horse you [mount horse] and to get off you [dismount] Horses have four speeds: walk, trot, canter and gallop. Walk moves your horse at the same speed that your character moves, one room at a time. Trot, canter, and gallop move two, three and four rooms at a time, provided that there are enough rooms in a row in that specific direction. If you gallop north and there are only three rooms with a northern exit, the horse will travel three rooms north and then stop to see which way you want to go next. To make your horse change speed [signal horse to walk/trot/canter/gallop].
Tack and Barder Tack is the what you need to ride the horse or lead a horse. This includes halters and bridles, padding (blankets, quilts, caparisons, saddle pads), and saddles. If you intend on using a saddle you must have at least ONE piece of padding to protect the horse from the saddle rubbing against its skin. In combat you ought to have a blanket type item AND a saddle pad. Saddles can be slung over the riders shoulder. To lead the horse you need a lead rope also. Barding is the term for horse armor. There are five pieces, the chanfron, which covers the head, the crinnet which covers the neck, the peytrel which covers the chest area and legs, the crupper which covers the hindquarters and legs, and the flanchard which covers the legs and abdomen. Each armor is available in leather, chain or plate.
The stables feed and groom your horse for you while it is in their care. To stable your horse, return to the stable, remove all the tack and barder, except the bridle, and [stable horse]. To unstable your horse go to the nearest stable and [return horse]. Stables have several runners that will collect your horse, so if your horse was last stabled in Crossing, and you wish to take it out in Shard, they will fetch it for you. If the game crashes, the GMs will restart the stables 30 minutes after the crash, at which time you can get your horse back from the nearest stable. If you get booted, your horse will return to the stable. Normally the runners will leave your horse alone for a few days, hoping that you return, but in the event you can't make it back, they will take it into their care and you can recover it from the nearest stable.
Horse Health You can care for a horse two ways. One way is by grooming it, the other is by feeding it. Horses can get wounded or will starve to death if not properly cared for. In order to take care of the horse you need to study the horse - it'll tell you if its hungry or in need of care
Cleaning Tools for cleaning are available at each stable. These tools include a curry comb, a stiff brush/soft brush, a mane and tail brush, and a hoof pick. The mane, tail, hooves and coat need to be cleaned. To clean the mane and tail, [clean horse] while holding nothing in your hands. Continue to clean it with your hands until it asks you for a brush. Then you will use a soft brush (it is turnable to the stiff brush) until it tells you to use another tool, at which point you will use the mane and tail brush. To clean the coat, [clean horse] while holding a curry comb. After you are finished the the curry comb, use the stiff brush (it is turnable to the soft brush). Continue with the stiff brush until it asks you for a soft brush and then use that until you finish. To clean the hooves, [clean horse] while holding a hoof pick. You will clean out one of the horses hooves. Since a horse has four hooves, you have to do this four times.
Feeding Horses will graze and feed themselves
if in a grassy area. You can also forage grass and feed it to it.
Food is also for sale in the stables.
Horse Verbs Rub - You rub your horse's
shoulder, gently assuring the animal.
