Arrow Fletching
- Arrowhead Making - Arrow Chart
Equipment:
carving knife
(easily
found on Madmen or Goblins, also bought at Shard or Theren General Stores
and Knife Clan)
shaper
(purchase
in Leth Deriel or Lagenfirth bowry)
stick (forage
for your favorite)
feather
flights
(buy them at a bowry)
glue (buy
it at a bowry)
shears
(buy
them at a bowry)
arrowheads
[bodkin, bishop, broad-tip, barbed, warhead] (buy them at a bowry)
Steps:
-
With a stick in
your left hand, and carving knife in your right hand: SHAPE SHAFT FROM
MY STICK - 2x or until you see: You shave excess wood away from
the stick revealing the clean wood beneath. It finally looks like
a shaft.
-
With the shaper
in your right hand, SHAPE SHAFT
-
With the knife
in hand: NOTCH MY SHAFT WITH MY KNIFE, you will see: "You carefully
notch the shaft's tip preparing it for the arrowhead."
-
Again with the
knife: NOTCH MY SHAFT WITH MY KNIFE, you will see: "Being careful
to center it just right, you notch the shaft creating its nock."
-
Now FLETCH
MY SHAFT.
-
Grab some feather
flights and FLETCH MY SHAFT.
-
Get your glue
and FLETCH MY SHAFT.
-
Get your shears
and FLETCH MY SHAFT.
-
And lastly, grab
your favorite arrowhead and AFFIX ARROWHEAD.
Notes:
If at any point
you miscarve/fletch any step in the process, you will have flawed
the arrow. The arrow is no longer "perfect" or "flawless". It will still
be useable and work, but will not be good. You are much better off
to drop it, and start over from step one.
Every 10
ranks in a bow skill will allow you to carve a better arrow. Hence an arrow
I fletch at 43 ranks will be superior to one I fletch at 38. However, a
arrow I fletch at 48 will likely be about the same as one I feltch at 45.
Appraising a fletch can tell you it's approximate value. I have no info
on a rating system for arrows, other than their appraisal value - assuming
more value corresponds to a better arrow. I lose arrows left and right
anyway so I don't really worry about it.
Arrowhead
Making
Arrowheads
can be puncture, slice, or impact primary depending on who is doing the
actual crafting.
Equipment:
Blunt Weapon
Arrow head
materials: Elsraleal tooth, Angiswaerd tooth, Hele'la tooth or Boar tusk
for each arrowhead.
Steps:
-
With the material
in one hand and blunt weapon in the other, POUND <material> INTO ARROWHEAD
-
Next, POUND
ARROWHEAD INTO ARROWHEAD
-
Continue doing
this until you recieve the message that you are finished pounding on an
unfinished arrowhead.
Here's
a chart listing the Woods and Type of Hits you can expect from the arrows
